My Kitchenaid® mixer. Notice how well it matches my canisters which are from the 80s/90s! :-)
Kitchenaid® rebate offer at Costco
Here is a rebate deal that is going on at Costco right now through December 10th. A friend of mine finally bought one of these on this rebate offer and is very happy with it. :-)
This is the same model mixer that I have as far as I can tell, and I can say that it is a very useful kitchen tool – one of my favorites (a wedding gift from my in-laws). This professional type with the lever to raise and lower the top portion is recommended over the type that tips back because the wires are not constantly being bent. Also it is bigger. At 5.5 quarts, the bowl size is large enough to make a batch of bread and to easily double some recipes. It does take up a fair chunk of space (mostly vertical) on the counter, so if you have a very small kitchen or very limited counter space you may want to consider that and go take a look at one in person before deciding to buy.
If you’re not a Costco member you might enquire among your friends as to whether any of them are because, as far as I know, you could buy this item on their membership if you go with them to the warehouse (they have to be present with their membership card, and you can’t pay with anything but check, cash or Discover if I remember correctly). Because of the rebate, it may be required that they pay for the item themselves, so be prepared to give them the money to pay for the item or find out ahead of time so you will know what to expect. Unfortunately, Costco is not everywhere, so this will not be possible for some of my readers.

It matches my sweater and strawberry cookie jars too. :-)
