Verses of Encouragement In Politically Troubled Times

There is speculation and concern as well as fearfulness and anxiety among many in the U.S. and in other countries these days for many reasons, especially political. For Christians it is good to remember who we are in Christ Jesus, Who it is that we belong to and Who it is that governs all things.

----------------------

Psalms 103:19  The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

1 Timothy 2:1-3  I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;  For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Daniel 4:32 and 37  And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will…37  Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

--------------------------

Matthew 10:29-31  Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.  But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Psalms 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

Proverbs 29:25  The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Romans 8:35-39  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Colossians 3:15  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Psalms 32:8-11  I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.  Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about. Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

Psalms 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

  1. Hi, Mary,
I posted a couple of these very same verses today! It's so comforting to know that we can go to God's Word and find help and strength for whatever situation we might find ourselves in.
I also posted the recipe for the strawberry-rhubarb jam today. Hope you enjoy it. Take care. :-)

    1. Yes, one of the many things to love about the word of God is it's constant appropriateness in all situations. What a wonderful gift He has given us both in the living Word and the written word!

Thanks for posting the recipe. I'll have to go over and take a look. :-)
