Summer Wind

Which way did the wind go?
Did you see it when it passed?
Which way did the wind go,
And how long did it last?

Was it in a terrible hurry
When it swept through this spot?
Or did it dally 'mong the shrubs
'Til it had nearly stopped?

Was it a raging monster,
Or a merry little breeze,
That made the leaves to giggle
As they trembled on the trees?

Oh, which way did the wind go?
I would so like to know,
For this stillness hangs so heavy,
I just long for it to blow!
