Australian Memories – Bonsai

We were just barely in time to see the bonsai display at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mt. Coot-tha the day we visited there.

  1. I love Bonsai, I find them amazing. We have a collection at the National Arboretum here in Canberra. I bought my son Tristan one for Christmas and he tells me it is still going strong.

    1. My brother, Dan, was interested in learning bonsai at one point, but he didn't end up doing it. They are interesting. I like the flowering ones especially. :-)

  2. Hi Mary. Thank you so much for your visit and comment on my antler post !
I have been trying to answer you several times. I did something wrong but did not find out what, yet.
You maybe will receive two of the same mails in the future... :) Well, I may hope so, that will mean
that I found out how to.... :) Mary I will be trying your suggestion and put a candle in the antler 'things'.
My son loves bonsai. They really are interesting.

    Blessings to you,
    Wilma. Shabby Royale

    1. You're welcome, and thanks for returning the favor. :-) I did not receive your emails, so I'm glad you tried this method too. I hope the candle idea works out for you.

Bonsai are also pretty valuable if they are older ones. The man who tended these and secured them for the evening and night told us that they had had some stolen and that they were quite valuable! That was why they shut the display early. We were glad to get there in time to see them.

  3. I've always wanted a bonsai tree...but I'm not very good with plants. Still, this makes me want to see if my thumb has become any greener over the years

    1. I have a green thumb for some things. Other things I "successfully" kill every time I try them these days - such as African violets and lavender. I don't think I'd want to be responsible for a bonsai, even though they are so interesting! :-)
