I used to think irises in this shade were ugly. I have some that are about the same color as these. Mine have a little yellow mixed with the burgundy. A sweet lady gave them to me years ago when I didn't have any irises. "Beggars can't be choosers." I was grateful to at least have some irises. Over the years I have grown to love them. Last year was the first year that I got to pick a full bouquet of the burgundy beauties. I am looking forward to their blooms this year!
That's interesting because I probably wouldn't have bought this color either if I had a choice, but they were given to me by a lady after I saw them in her garden. I loved the richness of the color. Sadly, a lot of the irises I brought to Texas with me did not survive. I still have a few. The white ones do the best.
