Texas Memories - The Final Flash

What bliss is this?
That leaves should glow like fire
Before they drop into
The arms of death?
One brilliant flash,
And they are gone forever,
Into the earth which
First gave them their birth.
What art! What fabulous design!
This gift from God
That marks the passing time.

  1. I like your verse! The oak leave are prettier than the oak leaves that I see around here. The maples have the prettiest leaves on our street.

    1. Thank you! I don't know why, but the area where we live has these oaks that turn gorgeous reds and deep oranges most years. I don't know the type, but they are not wide spread. It seems quite localize. Sadly, some of them have been dying, which is concerning to me. We have oak blight in Central Texas and I'm wondering if it's that or if it's the drought we have had so much of over the last decade and more. I enjoy the color so much, being a Michigan girl by birth. :-)
