Short Thoughts: God’s Word – All or Nothing

A guest post from one of my sisters-in-law.

--------------------------------------------

One thing I have learned: Never undermine the Scriptures or exclude parts of them as being untrue or unnecessary. From there it is an easy step to write them all off as being in error.

Either believe them or don't, but *never ever* split them or think you are wise enough to know which parts should or shouldn't be included. It is a deception to believe you are wiser than the Lord God who is powerful enough to preserve His Word despite all people have done to it throughout the ages.

He is the Almighty Creator - if you can't believe something as simple as His ability to preserve His Word (His Word also being the Lord Jesus Christ, His Son), then what exactly can you believe???

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not".
(John 1:1-5)

John Wesley also made some useful quotes in the same vein.

"Nay, will not the allowing there is any error in Scripture, shake the authority of the whole?"

"Nay, if there be any mistakes in the Bible, there may as well be a thousand. If there be one falsehood in that book, it did not come from the God of truth."

"I want the whole Christ for my Saviour, the whole Bible for my book, the whole Church for my fellowship, and the whole world for my mission field."

Psalms 119:160  Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
