Emmanuel, God (Is Still) with Us – A Poem By Annie Johnson Flint

This is good thing to remember as we head into another uncertain year.

Emmanuel

"God with us" in this world of sin,
This life of weakness and of woe:
His love, His power and His strength
With us, wherever we may go,
Since Jesus came to earth to dwell
And be for aye Emmanuel.

No weary days, no starless nights,
No sorrow deep, no trial sore,
But we can feel His presence near,
"God with us", now and evermore;
Since He hath come to earth to dwell
Whose name is still Emmanuel.

Matthew 1:23 …and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

  1. Hi, Mary~
    What a wonderful poem...thank you for posting it. I have many concerns about the future, but it's so comforting to know God is with us through all of it.
    Hope you're having a great week! :-)

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem. My mom had a hip replacement on Monday and came home today so, as you can see, we needed this poem this week ourselves. :-) God has blessed her much and she is doing well!
