These photos were taken by my grandparents in the '60s and '70s. I have memories of roads like these! While they are very beautiful to look at, it is not always great to travel on roads in these conditions. :-) All of these photos were taken around Gull Lake, Michigan.
Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Oh, I LOVE these photos! Makes me cold just looking at them, but they are just so pretty. I think it is so neat that your grandparents took the photos all those years ago, and yet, they look fresh and new. I hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas season!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, I appreciated you comment the day I saw it. I'm sorry I didn't answer sooner. I've been sick most of this month and having eye trouble as well. A blessed New Year to you and yours.
