Sew Happy Friday- An Idea for Organizing and Using Scraps

Here is an idea for organizing fabric scraps so that they will be more useful for quilting.  I have mentioned something along these lines before regarding cutting scraps at the time you are actually cutting out your project.  Amy at A Quilting Sheep actually went through her whole scrap stash and cut them into useable sizes.  Take a look:

  1. I do that too. I read a book (I think it was called Scrap Therapy) where a similar system was mentioned and it is really handy. It is very therapeutic to get out the scrap pile and cut it into pieces every now and then.

    1. I've organized mine some, and I've cut up some scraps. I think it really helps to organize our scraps. :-)

  2. I need to find a way to organise my scraps, although I don't think I would cut them into quilting pieces because I use scraps for lots of different things, not just quilting - like doll clothes. I do like her system of organising them by colour though. Hmm... ideas to keep me thinking (and busy!!). :D

    1. I agree that cutting them up may not be the best plan for everyone. I don't use all my scraps in specific sizes either, even for quilting. I have cut up some for that purpose, but I don't think I'll do them all. I need to do a lot more organizing of my stash to make it usable, especially so that I know what I have!

    1. You're welcome! :-) I'm thinking about how I can go about that project. Maybe I'll start this week.
Your blog is inspiring to me, partly because you use so many fabrics that I really like. :-)
