The Thousand Word Project - Spring Is Near or Here

O wind, where have you been,
That you blow so sweet?
Among the violets
Which blossom at your feet.

The honeysuckle waits
For Summer and for heat
But violets in the chilly Spring
Make the turf so sweet.

Christina Rossetti

  1. That is a sweet little poem. I like how violets grow all over the yard and give a nice smattering of purple in the green. :)

    1. Violets are one of my favorite flowers. They make me think of my Gramma and my mother. In Tennessee we had little white violets with purple stripes that bloomed all over our yard. :-) I encouraged them in one of my perennial borders.
