Sew Happy Friday- Tube Quilting Technique Tutorials

Here are two tutorials from the Missouri Star Quilt Company for making quilt blocks by sewing strips into a tube and then cutting it into triangles.  The results are pretty neat and take the tedium out of making the blocks with lots of small piecing.  The first set also offers a variety of pattern arrangements.

These are early videos by MSQC and are not of the highest quality.  I still like their methods and Jennie’s clear way of teaching.  Natalie does not go into as much detail in the second video, so I recommend watching the first one first to get a better idea of what is going on.

This second video shows how to make the tubes to make the quilt pattern “Summer In the Park”.

  1. Oh, this looks really interesting and the results are lovely! I want to try quilting some time. I haven't been brave enough to actually give it a try yet!

    1. I can sympathize with your hesitancy. I have lots of ideas, but sometimes it's hard to actually do things. I think part of it is just a fear of failing or messing something up. I need to try to push past that. Plus, I can never make up my mind what I want to work on next. ha. I suggest trying a small project first and just giving yourself permission to fail while you learn. :-) Even something that isn't perfect can usually be used in your own space somewhere.
